Another Blizzard???

I have to tell my blizzard story (as if we needed another snow storm).
The wind was howling and snow was falling like cotton balls, a 5' drift accumulated in my driveway.
I didn't have to go to work, but my daughter did. I said to her "you aren't going anywhere today".
Well, she talked about shoveling, so we went out and got my Blazer out of the garage by blasting through the remaining snow. She went to work, the blizzard got worse, and she finally left work 3 hours later. The snow drifts were 5' deep on all the east/west streets by this time. Then my phone rang "Mom, I am really stuck".....just a half block from our house, so I bundled up, took two shovels and trudged out to my stuck Blaze. It was really stuck, she must have rammed herself into the snowbank. We wrestled with it for a long time, but gave up and went home. When I got home, I called the city to let them know my car was stuck in the street. They told me I had to move it or the city would impound it - so I called a wrecker company. I met the guy a block from my house, and got into his truck. He tried to get to my house by another street, but the drifts were 7' by this time. He then told me to go home and he would bring the big plow to get me and the Blaze up to my home. I sat in my car to warm up, then I turned it off and started to go home. I could barely see the neighbor's house by this time with the wind howling fiercely. I tried to walk down the middle of the street, but I kept falling into snow up to my armpits - it was so soft, I exhausted myself and I finally went back to my car to rest. I decided to wait in my car for the plow. I waited and waited, an hour went by and the wind was getting more fierce. I called the towing company to see when they were coming, but bad news, the guy went home and all plow operators were sent home. I knew I had to try one more time to get home before I wouldn't be able to see anything. I crawled up to the side of the road where the hard snowpack from the previous plowing was, I fell down several times, but I was able to stay on top of the snow. Finally, I reached my door. My glasses steamed up, I was gasping for air, but I was finally safe. Thank God for my answered prayers and my cell phone.

Blogging my way out of winter

I was growing so tired of the subzero weather, so I took a week-long visit to Phoenix.
While I was in Phoenix (where the temp was in the 70's), the weather back in Minnesota was reasonable, but now that I am back in Minnesota, we are back in the deep freeze.
Here is hoping that our next 60 days will be warmer ones.
Saying goodbye and good-riddance to winter.
